Eight Questions to Ask an Injury Network Before You Book
Illinois Injury Report Staff ·
Ask who answers the phone, who will actually treat you, how far you will travel, how billing works, and who receives your records. A network should answer each one plainly.
Questions about access
1. Who answers when I call, and at what hours? 2. How soon is the first appointment? 3. How close is the provider to my home or job?
Questions about care
4. What kind of provider will I see first? 5. Is the provider independently licensed, and can I have the name before I go?
Questions about money and records
6. Do I pay anything at the visit, and how is the provider paid? 7. Who receives my records and bills, and do I sign to allow it? 8. Does the network charge me or my attorney anything?
What a good answer sounds like
Short and specific. If an answer is vague, ask again or ask for it in writing.
